Argolis by Bike: The Ultimate Multi-Sport Odyssey
Cycling through Argolis isn’t just about the miles, it’s about pedaling through 3,000 years of living history. This region in the eastern Peloponnese is a cyclist’s playground where rugged mountains meet the crystalline Aegean, and every climb is rewarded with a story.

The Ride & The View
The beauty of Argolis lies in its ever-changing scenery. One moment you are spinning through the citrus-scented plains of Argos—the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe—and the next, you are tackling the switchbacks of the “Argolic Riviera”.

TOUR SCHEDULE

DAY 1

Route: Loutraki → Lygourio
Stats: 65km | 1100m elevation gain

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
We kick things off in the coastal town of Loutraki, but the real magic begins as the road opens up and Argolida unfolds before us. Leaving the buzz of the town, you’ll immediately feel the shift into a genuine, rustic Greek landscape. Think silver-green olive groves, the scent of wild thyme, and those quiet, winding backroads that every cyclist dreams of.

As we pedal south, the coastline is nothing short of magical. You’ll have the sapphire waters of the Saronic Gulf on your left, with dramatic cliffs and hidden coves guiding the way. The terrain offers that perfect “rolling” rhythm that keeps your legs moving and your eyes wide open.

Our destination is the legendary Epidaurus, a place where ancient healing energy still lingers in the air. After soaking in the history of the world’s most famous ancient theater, we’ll roll into the charming village of Lygourio to wrap up Day 1. It’s the perfect spot to lean the bikes against a stone wall, kick back at a local taverna, and refuel with some serious Greek carbs.

DAY 2

Route: Lygourio → Galatas
Stats: 70km | 720m elevation gain

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
Leaving Lygourio, we head east for a day that feels like a “bike-to-island” odyssey. Our first stop is the Methana Peninsula, a rugged volcanic landscape where the road hugs the coast between dormant craters and sapphire waters.

After a scenic taste of Methana, we cruise toward the ferry for a quick hop over to Poros. Cycling through the island’s neoclassical waterfront offers a total change of pace—pure Mediterranean elegance. We finish the day in Galatas, looking back at the shimmering lights of Poros across the strait.

DAY 3

Route: Galatas → Porto Cheli
Stats: 87km | 800m elevation gain

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
We leave Galatas behind and dive straight into the heart of the Argolic Riviera. This isn’t just a ride; it’s a sensory overload. We hug the coastline for miles, finding that perfect rhythm where the hum of our tires matches the sound of the Aegean crashing below.

We’ll wind through silver olive groves and pine-scented headlands, stopping for a quick espresso in the “island-town” of Ermioni before pushing toward the glamour of Porto Heli. Every climb we tackle is rewarded with a panoramic view of the turquoise gulf, and every descent is a rush of salt air. We finish the day by trading our jerseys for swimsuits in the crystal-clear waters of the bay.

DAY 4

Route: Free day Spetses
Stats: 0km | 0m elevation gain

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
Enjoy a free day to discover the charm of Spetses.
We’ll depart the hotel, leaving the rest of the day entirely up to you.
Whether you want to dive into the turquoise waters for a swim, hunt for treasures in the local boutiques, or simply kick back and relax with friends, the island is yours to explore at your own pace.

DAY 5

Route: Kosta → Nafplio
Stats: 70km | 1080m elevation gain

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
After a day of recharging our batteries on the car-free trails of Spetses, we’re back in the saddle. We leave the upscale shores of Porto Heli and Kosta behind, setting our sights on the legendary Nafplio.
This is the ride that brings it all together. We navigate the rugged beauty of the Argolic peninsula, feeling the transition from the glitz of the Riviera to the timeless charm of the first capital of Greece. The road ahead is a masterpiece of winding asphalt and Mediterranean grit, leading us toward one of the most picturesque cities in Europe.

As we roll into Nafplio, the sight of the Bourtzi castle floating in the bay and the Palamidi fortress towering above is our ultimate reward. We’ll finish the day wandering marble-paved alleys, celebrating the miles we’ve conquered in a city that breathes history and elegance.

DAY 6

Hiking Nafplio’s Titans

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
After five days of pushing the pedals, we trade our cleats for hiking boots to conquer Nafplio from above. This isn’t a rest day—it’s an elevation day. We start by tackling the legendary 999 steps carved into the rock to reach the Palamidi Fortress. The higher we climb, the more the Argolic Gulf reveals itself, until we’re standing 216 meters above the sea with a bird’s-eye view of everything we’ve conquered so far.

DAY 7

Route: Nafplio→ Loutraki
Stats: 83km | 636m elevation gain

✓ Accommodation: Hotel
✓ Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Description:
Enchanted by the morning light reflecting off the marble streets of Nafplio, we clip in for one final, legendary day in the saddle. Today isn’t just a ride; it’s a journey through the cradle of civilization. We leave the coast behind and head into the heart of the Argolic plain, where the history is as thick as the scent of the orange groves.
Our first milestone is Mycenae, the kingdom of Agamemnon.

Standing before the Lion Gate, you feel the raw power of the Bronze Age—a perfect moment to pause and realize how far our legs have brought us. But the road calls again, leading us through winding vineyard paths toward Ancient Nemea. As we pedal through the rolling hills of Greece’s premier wine region, the memories of the past week start to flood back: the volcanic ridges of Methana, the turquoise waters of the Riviera, and the steep steps of Palamidi.

We close the loop where history and nature meet. The physical journey ends here, but the sights, the scents, and the grit of the Peloponnese are now part of us. The circle is complete, but the ride lives on forever.
